STATEMENT FROM THE RADFEM COLLECTIVE: RECLAIM THE NIGHT 2014

by Elsa Field

STATEMENT REGARDING EVENTS AT RECLAIM THE NIGHT LONDON, 2014

Saturday 22nd November 2014 will be remembered as a day of infamy in the Herstory of women's struggle for freedom and justice. For a long time time Radical Feminists have understood the debilitating, insidious undermining effects of liberals who are in our midst. The events of Saturday night in Reclaim The Night in London have illuminated the stark realities of what happens when we compromise our basic principles.

It is an obvious contradiction in terms, to march in the name of women's autonomy, security and freedom, where men and pro porn/prostitution/trafficking proponents are invited and embraced.

Whenever Radical Feminists point out that the emperor has a frock on, we are castigated by liberals who are appeasing their own misguided notions of humanitarian charity, instead of fighting for women's liberation.

We unreservedly support women naming and exposing male violence in all of its forms in the struggle for women's liberation.

The RadFem Collective

RadFem UK becomes RadFem Collective

by Elsa Field

We’re delighted to announce that RadFem UK has changed its name to the RadFem Collective, a group of diverse Radical Feminists who are determined to work collectively together across our theoretical differences, and to come together to challenge the male patriarchal system and male white supremacy, which enslaves women and girls.

We organise as a small part of the radical feminist movement we love and cherish and are committed to.

We will continue to create women only spaces where the full richness of radical feminist conversation erupts from female experience, as we Re-member our fragmented selves to full female strength and autonomy.

The group is composed of:

Firestone Dworkins
Helen Cameron
Ellen Grogan
Ruth Greenberg
Ebony Cinders

After the success of FemiFest 2014, we are currently planning our next next radical feminist conference to take place on the 12th and 13th of September 2015.

We hope you will join us in the conversation. Further information will be released shortly.
